Two Magical Hours in Tórshavn

The total solar eclipse was at 9.42 am, and Skansin in Tórshavn was the perfect place to be. It was cloudy, but the clouds parted just at the right moment when the moon covered the sun. Pure magic.

Here everybody is just hoping for the clouds to part so we can get a clear view of the sun.

I was much to caught up in the experience to get anything useful on my camera during the two minutes of darkness, but I think it was genious of Hamferð to shoot this live music video during the eclipse.

The sun is returning and the clouds have parted

Skansin was a good choice. Seems to bee cloudy in the background.

And then I just love this video of how chickens react to the eclipse.

    Hello Hanne
How lovely of you to share your experience of the solar eclipse. I had secretly hoped that you would write about it. We were able to follow the live stream. In Belgium we only had a partial eclipse of 84%. That was impressive too, but of course not the same. Because of a thin layer of clouds we didn’t need the special goggles and could look directly at the sun. Any sign of spring yet?

All the people outside Hotel Føroyar in Tórshavn missed the total eclipse because of clouds. I was so lucky to be at Skansin.
Yes, spring is here with all the early spring flowers :)

Thanks for sharing this. We were on a flight NW of the Faroes at 38,000ft and had a superb experience. I love the chickens video. I’m so pleased you got the chance to experience it too.

Really clever to be on a plane and fly over the clouds. The next total solar eclipse in Faroe Islands will be in 2245, so I am glad to have experienced this one.
